Job Description:
Summary:
Barr is seeking an environmental engineer to join its Bismarck office and undertake challenging and progressive work on projects related to the investigation, evaluation, and remediation of contaminated sites. Responsibilities include managing multidisciplinary teams, preparing technical reports, coordinating environmental assessments, investigating contamination, evaluating remediation technologies, developing site management strategies, and overseeing remediation activities.
Additional project duties involve preparing cost estimates, developing proposals and budgets, communicating with clients and regulators, providing project management, and mentoring junior staff. Business development tasks include maintaining client relationships, developing proposals, and networking at conferences.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, geological, or chemical engineering or related fields
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Strong communication, technical, and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and computer proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets
- Ability to work independently and in teams, with a flexible working style
- Willingness to travel up to 10% and adjust schedules as needed
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in engineering or related discipline
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or eligibility to become registered within a year
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
- Experience in project management, staff mentoring, client relations, and business development
Position based in Barr's Bismarck, ND office, with potential for a hybrid work arrangement.
Compensation: The base salary ranges from $100,000 to $125,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include performance bonuses, profit sharing through ESOP, and comprehensive health and retirement plans.
