We are looking for a Kindergarten teacher for Centennial Elementary in Bismarck, ND. The position begins on Aug 14, 2026 with new teacher orientation on Aug 11‑13, 2026.
Contract:
187 school days. The district welcomes both internal transfers and external applicants, including current BPS support staff, temporary and substitute teachers. Full‑time positions are available for part‑time contracted teachers.
- A valid ND teaching certificate
- Bachelor’s degree
Applicants will be asked to complete the EPI Candidate Assessment, a timed survey taking 45 minutes to 1 hour, completed only once.

Performance Responsibilities – Essential Functions- Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community.
- Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of children.
- Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students.
- Monitors and evaluates student outcomes.
- Supervises students in a variety of school‑related settings.
- Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Daily lesson plans are essential; plans must be complete enough for a substitute teacher to take over.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated by the immediate supervisor.
- Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of behavior and procedure, maintaining order in a fair and just manner.
- Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with other staff members.
- Provides for own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework in compliance with the district’s professional growth program.

Salary$53,713 to $79,872 Per Year
