£36,000 – £39,000 plus 12.5% employer pension contribution.
Full‑time (35 hours/week).
RoleThis unique opportunity involves overseeing the care, maintenance and efficient running of the Foundation’s historic and new buildings, associated plant and equipment, let cottages, gardens and a 72‑acre rural estate. The role includes safety and security of employees, visitors and collections, supports sustainability, drives operational efficiency, manages tendering and procurement and works to budgets.
Responsibilities- Oversee care, maintenance and operations of buildings and estate.
- Manage safety and security of employees, visitors and collections.
- Support sustainability agenda and operational efficiency.
- Manage tendering, procurement processes and contractor relationships.
- Work to budgets and control project plans.
- Significant supervisory experience in buildings, facilities, estate or operations management, ideally rural, historic or cultural.
- Proven track record managing a team of paid employees and/or volunteers.
- Excellent knowledge of general building maintenance and building management systems (HVAC, etc.).
- Understanding of rural estate/land or professional garden management.
- Legal knowledge for safe work environment with qualification in health and safety (NEBOSH, IOSH or NVQ), COSHH, Fire Safety or First Aid.
- Experience in tendering, negotiating contracts and managing contractors, including RAMS.
- High awareness of security protocols and systems.
- Knowledge of conditions for care of archival or museum artefacts.
- Ability to plan and manage projects, draw up and control budgets.
- Self‑starter, problem‑solver, tact, diplomacy, negotiation and communication skills.
