Senior Engineer

Location: Bishops Stortford

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure works. This is a permanent opportunity offering a salary of up to £55,000, plus company car and a full standard benefits package.

The role will involve supporting the delivery of complex civil engineering projects, ensuring technical excellence, programme compliance, and high quality standards throughout.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead engineering activities across allocated sections of works

* Manage and mentor Site Engineers and junior engineering staff

* Oversee setting out and ensure works are delivered in line with drawings and specifications

* Review and approve RAMS, ITPs, and technical submissions

* Ensure QA processes are implemented and maintained

* Manage temporary works coordination in line with design requirements

* Monitor progress against programme and provide technical input to planning updates

* Support the commercial team with change management and record keeping

* Liaise with clients, designers, and key stakeholders

* Ensure health & safety standards are maintained at all times

Requirements:

* Proven experience as a Senior Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects

* Strong background in reinforced concrete, earthworks, drainage, or structural packages

* Excellent understanding of QA procedures and documentation

* Competent in setting out and surveying equipment

* Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)

* CSCS Card (essential)

* SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred)

* Strong leadership and communication skills

* Ability to manage multiple work streams and technical challenges
