The Role:
Making a Difference
As an RCCW, you'll be key to promoting the well being and protection of children and young people. Your primary purpose is to provide quality care, actively promoting the rights of the children and young people as individuals.
Key Responsibilities Include:- Providing care and support in line with legislative, procedural, and good practice requirements and guidance
- Working effectively as part of a team supervising, monitoring, and supporting young people to reach their full potential
- Contributing to the assessment of children and young people's risks and needs through the development of care plans
- Supporting the social, emotional, and identity development of children and young people and working with them to promote their own physical and mental health needs
- Preparing, implementing, and evaluating group activities to address the offending behaviours of children and young people
- The ability to maintain confidentiality of client information is critical to this role
Salary & Benefits
This is a full-time role of 37 hours per week on a rotational shift pattern, covering 7 days per week, 365 days per year (Early and Late shifts).
Annual Salary (Days)- No qualifications or working towards an SVQ3 or HNC – £30,069
- Part qualified HNC or SVQ – £31,973
- Fully Qualified HNC & SVQ3 – £32,989
- Fully Qualified with SW Degree – £37,672
Sessional Hourly Rate: £12.80

Automatic enrollment with Strathclyde Pension Fund - Probationary Period: 6 months
- The role will require an Enhanced Disclosure check
Personal Specification
We need a team player who is self‑motivated, approachable, and can work on their own initiative.
Education/Training- Possess or working towards the HNC in Social Care and/or an SVQ in Care at Level 3 (or Caring for Children and Young People)
- Social Work Degree
- Experience in working in social care
- Preferably in residential child care or secure care
- Team working, good interpersonal and motivational skills, time management, planning and organisational skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- You must also have the mental strength to cope with challenging situations and maintain accurate records and write reports.
