Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner to join the Cardiac Arrest Prevention (CAP) Team. The cardiac arrest prevention team provides a comprehensive service for the organisation including a significant training program for all clinical staff from basic through to advanced courses.
The team's main focus is to eliminate avoidable cardiac arrest through extensive audit programmes, rapid case reviews of any unexpected death or potential failure to rescue, teaching and providing professional support to clinical areas and individuals.
In addition to this the team provides professional advice in relation to cardiac arrest prevention and resuscitation, coordinates the procurement of equipment and organization of the hospital emergency teams.
Key responsibilities include proactive risk management related to cardiac arrest prevention and resuscitation, delivery of training across the organisation and supporting staff to deliver high quality resuscitation care.
Responsibilities- Deliver effective cardiac arrest prevention training programs across the organisation.
- Assist the Lead Nurse with duties that will enable the effective running of the cardiac arrest prevention service.
- Contribute to the development of projects and strategy by leading on an identified aspect of cardiac arrest prevention or resuscitation practice.
- Identify and proactively manage cardiac arrest prevention related risk.
- Provide resuscitation and deteriorating patient training.
- Support the sisters/charge nurses in the delivery of the service.
- Assist with the delivery of projects, under the direction of a sister/charge nurse, as required.
- Assist with audit, under the direction of a sister/charge nurse, as required.
- Provide advice on basic resuscitation or deteriorating patient inquiries from clinical staff and refer complex enquiries to a sister/charge nurse.
- Foundation degree in health and social care (or willing to work towards).
- Willing to undertake an ILS.
- Willing to undertake an ILS instructor course.
- Experience in an acute care environment.
- Experience of teaching either formally or informally.
- Experience of emergency situations involving resuscitation of patients.
- Ability to communicate with senior clinical staff with confidence.
- Ability to convey information in an easy‑to‑understand manner.
- Ability to travel frequently between hospital sites.
