Aviation recruitment experts Optime Group are excited to be recruiting for a Duty Manager (Night Shift) to join a major aircraft cleaning operation at Birmingham Airport
.
This is a senior night-shift operational role, responsible for leading teams, maintaining airline service level agreements, and ensuring the safe, on-time delivery of aircraft cleaning services across a busy airport environment.
What’s on offerRate of Pay: £16.83 per hour
Shifts:
Night Shift (18:45 – 06:45)
Shift pattern: 4 nights on / 4 nights off
Weekly Pay (every Friday)
Full site training and onboarding provided

Key Duties- Lead the night operation to ensure all aircraft services are delivered on time and to the required standard
- Maintain high service levels across all customer airlines in line with SLAs
- Investigate service failures and respond to airline customers where required
- Ensure effective communication with the Station Manager to support smooth operational delivery
- Support station management with coaching, motivation and performance management
- Identify training needs and support staff development
- Conduct staff assessments and aircraft cleaning inspections
- Ensure company welfare policies are applied in line with regulations, internal policies and customer obligations
- Lead by example with a proactive and professional approach
- Maintain a zero-tolerance approach to health and safety non-compliance
- Ensure company and airline procedures are followed at all times
- Inspect equipment to ensure operational and safety standards are met
- Ensure all mandatory training requirements are completed
- Review operational reports and resolve issues to minimise costs and avoid delays
- Manage associated paperwork and AV Clean systems in line with regulatory and company requirementsli>
- Deliver effective pre-shift briefings and ongoing shift communication
- Complete administrative duties including reports, emails and employee relations documentation
- Proactively support the Station Manager with airline complaints or service issues
- Maintain a professional and impartial approach with staff, airlines and airport stakeholders
- Support continuous improvement to minimise service defects and meet performance targets
- Previous aviation operations or duty management experience is
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent planning, communication and decision‑making abilities
- Ability to assess situations quickly and implement corrective actions
- Good working knowledge of health & safety, employment and security obligations
- Flexible approach to working shifts where required
- Full UK manual driving licence is essential
- Must be over 18 and have the Right to Work in the UK
As this is an airport-based role, successful candidates must pass security checks in line with CAA regulations, including:
5-year checkable work history
Criminal record check with no disqualifying convictions
