Location:
Birmingham Hours of Work: 8:00am - 5:00pm Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
The Transport Manager will be responsible for managing the transport department, ensuring full regulatory compliance while delivering a safe, efficient and high‑quality transport service across the business.
The role focuses on the effective management of fleet operations, Operator Licence compliance, driver performance, and third‑party suppliers, while promoting a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.
Key Skills, Qualifications & ExperienceCPC qualified Transport Manager Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar Transport Manager role Strong technical knowledge of light and heavy vehicles Sound understanding of road transport law and Operator Licence requirements Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels Commercial awareness Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations Proactive, organised and detail‑oriented approach
Duties & ResponsibilitiesMaintain Operator Licence compliance to the satisfaction of the Traffic Commissioner and DVSAEnsure accuracy of fleet and business data held on the platform
Manage and enforce transport policies and procedures to ensure full regulatory compliance
Monitor legislative updates and communicate changes across the business
Provide advice on improvements to existing control measures and implement agreed changes
Ensure compliance with continuous motor insurance requirements
Manage outsourced service providers and third‑party suppliers
Ensure all vehicles are serviced in line with manufacturer schedules and LOLER requirements
Ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition
Ensure tachograph equipment is calibrated and inspected within legislative time‑scales
Collate and monitor driver tachograph чан using approved analysis software
Produce monthly reports on drivers’ hours and tachograph compliance
Keep senior management informed of any compliance or operational issues
Promote a positive culture around driver behaviour, road risk and safety
Ensure all transport‑related training, including Driver CPC, is completed on time Deliver transport safety briefings, toolbox talks and driver meetings
Keep drivers informed of changes to procedures, legislation and training requirements
Investigate complaints and implement corrective actions where required
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of all relevant transport legislation
Manage third‑party transport and fleet suppliers
Oversee asset disposal processes in line with company procedures
Salary of £40,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience
