Description

Birmingham Children's Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner Social Worker to join our Children in Need Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in improving outcomes for children, young people, and families across the city.
As a Senior Practitioner, you will provide expert guidance and support to social workers while managing a complex caseload. You will champion best practices, mentor less experienced colleagues, and ensure high-quality interventions that make a real difference in children’s lives.

Responsibilities
Undertake complex casework, including child protection, safeguarding, and legal proceedings.
Provide mentorship and professional guidance to social workers, ensuring high standards of practice.
Share a thorough knowledge of legislation, national standards, and best practices.
Work in partnership with families, professionals, and external agencies to deliver effective support.
Contribute to quality assurance, coaching, and performance management within the team.
Represent the department at meetings, court proceedings, and multi-agency forums.
Support the Team Manager in ensuring a high-quality, needs-led service.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.

Experience:

Significant post-qualification experience in children’s social care, including safeguarding, child protection, and working with families in need.

Skills:

Strong assessment, decision-making, and leadership skills.
Knowledge:
Sound understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.
Other Requirements:
Commitment to professional development and mentoring junior colleagues.
