Position: YOS Officer – Youth Offending Service (Social Care Qualified)

Neway International are seeking a YOS Officer to join our client based with Birmingham Children’s Trust.

Location:

One Avenue, Birmingham

Hours:

37 per week

Contract:

Temporary –Initially for a 3 month contract

Start Date:

19 January 2026
Rate: PAYE £17.99 per hour / Ltd/Umbrella £24.37 per hour

About the Client

Birmingham Children’s Trust delivers services that support children, young people, and families across the city. The Youth Offending Service (YOS) works to reduce offending and reoffending, supporting young people to build safer, healthier, and more positive futures.

The Role

The YOS Officer will deliver a service that meets the individual needs of children and young people, their families, and caregivers, with a focus on reducing offending and preventing reoffending. The role involves working across the Youth Justice Service, wider Birmingham Children’s Trust, and partner agencies across the city to ensure young people have access to effective interventions that support pro‑social identity development and recovery from trauma.

This is a frontline role requiring strong communication skills, resilience, and a commitment to safeguarding and positive outcomes for young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering tailored interventions to reduce offending and prevent reoffending.
  • Working collaboratively across the Youth Justice Service and wider Trust.
  • Ensuring young people access appropriate support, services, and interventions.
  • Supporting young people to build pro‑social identities and positive futures.
  • Working with families, caregivers, and partner agencies to promote safety and wellbeing.
  • Contributing to assessments, planning, and reviews in line with statutory requirements.
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Social Care professional.
  • Experience working with children and young people in a safeguarding, youth justice, or social care setting.
  • Strong understanding of risk, trauma, and behaviour management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners.
  • Excellent communication, engagement, and report‑writing skills.
  • Commitment to promoting positive outcomes for vulnerable young people.
