Overview
Domestic Electrician - Job Description
This is working at a HMP - Security clearance will be processed upon successful application and interview
39 hours per week, weekend working 1 in 3
Main PurposeTo install, maintain, service and repair electrical installations, circuits and wiring systems within domestic properties. This includes testing, inspecting, fault finding, full rewires, upgrades and general electrical maintenance work.
Responsibilities- Test and inspect electrical installations in domestic properties in accordance with current wiring regulations.
- Maintain, repair and upgrade electrical installations as required.
- Replace circuits and consumer units, including full rewiring of properties.
- Follow all Health & Safety legislation, safe working practices and internal procedures.
- Adhere to all operational instructions and requirements from management teams.
- Deliver electrical repairs, testing and remedial works in both occupied and void properties.
- Participate in out-of-hours callout rota when required.

- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing or 2394/2395 equivalent
- City & Guilds 2382 Wiring Regulations
- City & Guilds 2360/2351 or NVQ equivalent
- Part P qualification (desirable)
- Asbestos Awareness
- City & Guilds 2377 PAT Testing
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective time management
- Basic computer literacy
- Understanding of Health & Safety, method statements and risk assessments
- Accurate measuring and scoping of works
- Ability to test, fault-find and install electrical systems in domestic properties
- Ideally two years of relevant electrical experience
- Time-served electrical apprenticeship
- Strong technical capability within domestic electrical environments
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated
- Punctual and conscientious
- Able to work independently
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of industry best practice
