About the role

Group Metropolitan is looking for a multiskilled construction operative to support the growth of the department.

Monday to Friday 07:00 – 16:00 is the normal working day; these hours will be flexible in line with project needs.

Group Metropolitan undertakes as much as 75% of its works outside of normal working hours, so you may be asked to work over weekends or during night shifts.

Based at various site locations and our Metropolitan offices.

Ideal Candidate
  • Completed an NVQ L2 in a relevant trade or working as a construction apprentice, looking to train as a multi‑skilled tradesman.
  • Good and effective communicator.
  • Understands health & safety and demonstrates good practice on site where applicable.
  • Wants to progress, be part of a team, and learn and develop.
  • Keen eye for detail and takes pride in achieving a quality finish.
  • Would like a driving licence to facilitate tool and material distribution.
  • Has a good set of hand and battery tools.
  • Can use apps and basic PC skills.
Responsibilities

Key roles & responsibilities include:

  • Report daily to Lead tradesman / Supervisor.
  • Liaise with other tradesmen and support where needed.
  • Set up a site area.
  • Provide site protection.
  • Set out with laser measure.
  • Install ceiling tiles and grid.
  • Install plasterboard tracks and soffits.
  • Install drywall stud partitions.
  • Undertake carpet works.
  • Carry out filing and decoration.
  • Perform fire stopping.
  • Install glazed partitions.
  • Clean surfaces.
