Fire Service Engineer 

Salary:
Up to £39,000 + overtime + on-call + great benefits

Our client is seeking an experienced Fire Service Engineer to carry out maintenance, callouts, and remedial work across the West Midlands to fire detection, emergency lighting, AOVs, and associated systems. The successful engineer will work independently, deliver high-quality service, and represent the business with professionalism at all times.

What You’ll Be Doing

Planned maintenance, reactive callouts & remedial work on commercial and social housing contracts

Fault-finding and delivering high-standard fixes

Communicating clearly with customers on findings & next steps

Completing service reports accurately

Managing your van stock to maximise first-time fix rates

Supporting colleagues and occasionally mentoring juniors

What You Need

Proven experience in the fire & life safety engineering sector

Solid understanding of BS5839 and relevant standards

Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Ability to work independently and under pressure

Full manual driving licence (low points only)

Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check

Hours, Travel, Overtime & Call-out

Mon–Fri: 08:30–17:00 (30 min lunch)

First 30 mins travel each way unpaid

1in3 callout rota with a £245 per week standby fee - Door-to-door travel paid while on call

Overtime available at:

Time & Half:
Weekdays 17:00–00:00, Sat AM

Double Time:
Weekdays 00:00–08:30, Sat PM, Sundays

Bank Holidays:
Double Time + 1 day in lieu

Holidays

22 days + bank holidays, rising yearly up to 27 days

+3 more days at 10 years (total 30 days excl. BHs)

3 days reserved for Christmas shutdown
