Your future roleJoin us as our Security Operations Manager and play a pivotal role in safeguarding Alstom’s people, assets, and operations across the UK and Ireland, you’ll be the hands‑on expert ensuring our physical security standards are upheld, risks are mitigated, and local improvements are delivered. The role will require frequent domestic and occasional international travel.
We’ll look to you to:- Deliver effective physical security operations across Alstom’s sites, projects, and depots.
- Act as the day‑to‑day interface between the security function and site security coordinators, providing hands‑on advice and support.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess security performance, physical controls, and local risks.
- Lead or coordinate on‑site response to serious or repeat incidents, ensuring incidents are logged, triaged, and followed up effectively.
- Support the implementation and upgrade of security systems (CCTV, access control, etc.) and manage contractor performance.
- Drive root cause analysis and capture lessons learned to prevent recurrence of incidents.
- Build strong working relationships with depot managers, facilities leads, and project teams.
- Act as the first point of contact for operational security concerns at site level.
- Assist with the mobilisation of new sites or services from a security delivery perspective.
- Provide regular updates to the Security Manager UK&I on site visits, risks, and operational priorities.
- Support in identifying compliance gaps or policy implementation issues.
- Develop and embed structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., SARA model) to address recurring security issues.
- Oversee and manage technological CCTV scopes and alternative physical protection systems.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative security solutions and practices.

Mandatory:
- Relevant qualification in Security Management, Public Safety, Criminal Justice, or equivalent professional experience in law enforcement, military, or corporate security operations.
- Tangible experience in corporate security, physical security governance, or compliance.
- Proven experience managing or coordinating physical security operations in a multi‑site, field‑based, or high‑risk environment.
- Strong track record in incident response, including on‑site coordination, investigation, and escalation.
- Ability to work independently in a field‑based role with regular travel.
- Security‑related qualifications such as CSMP, CPP, PSP; PIP 2 and above are advantageous.
- Familiarity with security transformation programmes (e.g., SOC models, control room migration).
- Background in law enforcement, military, or emergency services.
- Experience applying structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., SARA model).
- Strong understanding of security technology, especially CCTV.
- Advanced ability to lead and coordinate physical security operations across multiple sites.
- Strong technical understanding of physical security systems (CCTV, access control, alarms).
- Skilled in managing on‑site incidents and conducting investigations.
- Proven experience overseeing security providers and driving service improvements.
- Analytical thinker with a proactive approach to risk identification and resolution.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, field‑based role with frequent travel.
- High level of discretion, reliability, and commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.
