Assistant Manager – Retail
Location: Erdington
Role PurposeYou will be responsible and accountable for the shop and the team in the absence of the Shop Manager, operating and running the shop and managing the shop team effectively. The day‑to‑day responsibilities include assisting the Shop Manager and team with the smooth running of the store, ensuring high standards, accepting and paying out bets, and delivering excellent customer service. You will also be responsible for opening and closing the business.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Shop Manager with the day‑to‑day running of the shop and the shop team.
- Lead from the front in managing the operation and running of the shop and the shop team in the absence of the Shop Manager, including:
- Opening and closing the shop.
- Managing and guiding the shop team.
- Cash management procedures.
- Managing and utilizing the company Time & Attendance system, ensuring adherence from the shop team.
- Leading by example and driving the team to keep and maintain shop presentation standards.
- Being a clear communicator, encouraging colleagues to share ideas and improvements.
- Keeping focus on shop results to identify opportunities for high‑standard performance.
- Providing outstanding customer experience and educating the team to deliver excellent service.
- Accepting bets accurately through multiple channels, including betting terminals and EPOS systems.
- Acting as a brand ambassador, introducing customers to the multi‑channel/digital journey.
- Ensuring the shop adheres to all operational, cash, and security procedures.
- Adhering to social responsibility duties.
- Ability to confidently lead a team and inspire others.
- Ability to build excellent working relationships with colleagues.
- Operate with trust and integrity, acting as an excellent role model.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear guidance and feedback.
- Adapt to different situations, leading from the front with new ideas.
- Problem‑solving and creative thinking.
- High energy and drive to develop yourself and others.

- 1 year experience as Assistant Manager / Supervisor in retail.
- Industry experience welcomed; full training provided on sports and betting.
