Band 6 Palliative Care Nurse

Overview

The successful candidate will provide professional support to the Children’s Community Nursing service and Rapid Response Teams. The Palliative Care Service works alongside other Specialist Nursing Services including Children’s Complex Care and Special School Nursing teams. This role involves on‑call participation to provide end of life care to children and young people (CYP).

• Deliver high quality, holistic, child‑centred palliative care focused on quality of life and supporting the CYP and their family during the palliative and end‑of‑life phase, primarily in the home setting.

• Provide leadership and management within a supportive and experienced team. Support families to ensure all social, emotional, practical, and nursing needs are met.

• Work as part of the Children’s Palliative Care Nursing Service alongside other BCHC services, contributing to a coordinated approach to care.

• On call to provide end of life care as required.

• Registered as a Children’s Nurse or Adult Nurse.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work as part of a team and autonomously, and the initiative to act effectively in a home care setting.

• Passion for palliative care and supporting CYP and their families.
