Location:
Aston, Birmingham
Pay Rate: £22 per hour
Working hours:
40 hours per week | Sunday to Thursday | 11:00am - 7:30pm
We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a food manufacturing site based in Aston, Birmingham. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity offering long-term stability and progression within a growing operation.
This is a 50/50 split role, combining hands-on technical maintenance with management and coordination responsibilities.
The Role of a Maintenance Engineer
🔧 50% Technical (Hands-On)
You will play a key role in keeping production running efficiently by:
Performing planned preventive and corrective maintenance
Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults
Minimising downtime and restoring production quickly
Working on food production machinery and associated equipment
Ensuring full compliance with food safety and safety standards including GMP and HACCP📋 50% Management & Coordination
Alongside technical duties, you will:
Plan maintenance schedules and factory shutdowns
Supervise maintenance technicians and external contractors
Manage spare parts inventory
Support control of the maintenance budget
Ensure all maintenance activities meet health, safety, and food industry regulations Machinery
You will be responsible for maintaining food production and packaging machinery within a manufacturing environment.
Experience with in a food factory setting is highly advantageous.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing preferred)
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
Experience working within GMP and HACCP standards
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience advantageous
Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred)
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
