Our client, a specialist producer of high-quality niche alloys, is seeking a skilled and time-served Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their production site in Birmingham. The facility operates state of the art casting and rolling equipment, supplying rolled metal products to a range of industries.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer looking to work within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

Key Responsibilities:

Attend plant breakdowns and carry out effective fault diagnosis and repair
Support plant operations including induction furnaces, automated casting, milling, rolling, annealing, pickling and slitting lines
Maintain conveyors, pump systems, gearboxes, mechanical transmission systems, and overhead cranes
Carry out TPM and PPM activities to maximise plant reliability
Repair, maintain and improve plant equipment to required operational standards
Undertake installation work and continuous improvement projects as required
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Requirements:

Minimum 3 years’ experience within a medium to heavy industrial mechanical environment
Time served Mechanical Engineer with relevant qualifications (City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ Level
3)
Strong experience with fluid power systems including HP/LP hydraulics and pneumatics
Ability to fault-find and troubleshoot mechanical plant equipment
Experience in basic fabrication and machine shop activities
Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematic drawings
Desirable

Skills:

HNC in Mechanical Engineering
Foundry experience
Experience working within heavy manufacturing or metals processing environments
