Slitting Machine Operator – Saltley, Birmingham

This is a great opportunity for an experienced or mechanically minded Slitting Machine Operator looking for stable weekday work, consistent hours, and long-term prospects in manufacturing.
IMPORTANT:
This role involves operating machinery covered under the 1A Brace classification and must be experienced in using this type of slitting machine. Candidates must be comfortable working under 1A Brace regulations and following strict safety and compliance procedures.
While permanent roles cannot be guaranteed, this is ongoing agency work with consistent shifts and a strong history of workers being taken on permanently.

- Setting up and operating metal slitting machinery
- Working from job cards, specifications, and tolerances
- Loading coils and materials safely into the machine
- Monitoring the slitting process to maintain quality and accuracy
- Taking measurements and making adjustments where required
- Identifying faults and carrying out basic troubleshooting
- Completing production and quality documentation
- Carrying out routine preventative maintenance
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area
- Working strictly in line with Health & Safety procedures, including 1A Brace requirements
- Supporting other areas of production when required
- Previous experience operating slitting machines or similar industrial machinery (essential)
- GCSE level education or equivalent – good maths skills essential
- Mechanical and technical aptitude
- Good level of physical fitness (manual handling involved)
- Strong attention to detail
- Understanding of health & safety regulations
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Comfortable working under 1A Brace machinery regulations
- Flexible and willing to support production demands
- £12.71 per hour plus holiday pay
- Weekly pay
- Holiday entitlement increasing with length of service
