Overview

We are recruiting Shift Operators and Shift Team Leaders to support the safe and efficient operation of a high-temperature energy/process plant in Birmingham.

This advert covers multiple positions at different experience levels, from hands-on Operator Maintainers through to experienced Shift / Team Leaders. The exact level will be aligned to skills, experience and leadership capability.

The Role

Working within a shift-based operations team, you will be responsible for the safe operation, monitoring and maintenance of process plant equipment, ensuring all activities are carried out in line with health, safety and environmental standards.

Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:

* Operating gasification or high-temperature process plant and ancillary equipment

* Carrying out plant rounds, inspections and defect reporting

* Monitoring plant via SCADA or similar control systems

* Performing mechanical and electrical isolations and accepting Permits to Work

* Supporting or leading shift teams to ensure safe, efficient operations

* Creating and following safe operating procedures, risk assessments and method statements

* Carrying out basic maintenance and fault-finding activities

* Ensuring environmental compliance (emissions to air, land, water and noise)

* Training and mentoring operators (for senior / leadership level candidates)

* Leading toolbox talks, safety drills and contributing to continuous improvement

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates with experience in process plant, energy, steam or gas environments, who take a proactive and safety-led approach to operations.

Experience may include:

* Operation of steam, gas or high-temperature process plant

* Knowledge of Permit to Work and Lock Out / Tag Out systems

* SCADA or similar control room experience

* Mechanical and/or electrical maintenance exposure

* Leadership or step-up supervisory experience (desirable but not essential)
