Job Summary

To deputy manage one of Care Perspectives Ltd children's homes providing care for young people with a mental health and associated learning disabilities and emotional & behavioural difficulties aged 10-17 years, with occupancies up to 8.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management of the home.
  • Deputise as manager in RM absence.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and related legislation.
  • Support the manager to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of young people.
  • Support the manager to manage the home’s staff team.
  • Support to manage a quality service aiming to achieve a 'Good' or 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating.
  • Represent the home to outside agencies and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Work with the wider management team to contribute to planning and of Care Perspectives.
  • Increase and maintain occupancy levels appropriate to the business needs and needs of the young people.
Main Duties
  • Leadership and Management of the home.
  • Understand ethos and basic principles of the business.
  • Responsible for day-to-day running of the home.
  • Manage practical issues, conflicts and dilemmas, providing on-call support and reporting service.
  • Provide out-of-hours support service to the home.
  • Work as part of a shift pattern but be flexible with hours.
  • Manage time and resources, manage financial expenditure against budgets.
  • Ensure positive physical environment, design, comfort and hygiene.
  • Operate in compliance with the Quality Standards for Children’s Homes.
  • Contribute to referral, assessment and admission procedures.
  • Ensure all young people have written placement plans and ongoing assessment.
  • Promote education, physical health and emotional wellbeing of the young people.
  • Ensure safe environment for the young people.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with social services, family and significant others.
  • ate complaints raised at the home.
Managing Staff
  • Ensure adequacy of staff cover within the home.
  • Work with our HR provider to identify staff requirements and process staff selection.
  • Interview candidates and assist with recruitment procedure.
  • Ensure staff receive and are supported to complete induction programme and certification before probationary period.
  • Provide supervision to staff on a regular basis.
  • Assess performance of staff and undertake probationary reviews.
  • Involved in any investigation / disciplinary or capability processes.
  • Ensure all staff are appropriately trained and qualified and keep training file up-to-date.
  • Hold regular staff meetings.
  • Provide in-house training individual staff or the team to meet identified need.
Quality Service
  • Attend management meetings and contribute to development of Care Perspectives services.
  • Carry out Regulation 44 inspection and file monthly report.
  • Act on recommendations or requirements from inspection reports and Regulation 33 reports.
  • Help develop and update policies and other company literature.
  • Monitor and review quality control systems and procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in staff training and contribute to the development and delivery of in-house training.
  • Promote anti-oppressive practices and equality of opportunity.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Have at least 2 years experience working with Children and young people in a residential setting.
  • Level 3 Health and Social Care, Children and Young People.
  • Working towards Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification.
