Purpose of the RoleThe Project Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the project within the Alliance in support of the Project Director. The role includes coordination and facilitation of all processes to minimise impact and disruption on existing operations throughout the project lifecycle. They will have strong knowledge of commercial management to ensure the project is taken into tram operation safely, on time and under budget.
They will be responsible for resource planning within the project and ensuring the correct level of resource to meet key milestones.
- Knowledge of project delivery in a civils environment
- Ability to manage project plans, budgets and workforce
- Managing several project sections simultaneously with the support of junior project managers
- Experience of managing multi-disciplinary project teams
- Experience of delivering within an effective safety culture in a high risk environment
- Relevant Degree
- Recognised Project Management qualification
- Membership (or working towards membership) of the Association for Project Management or other professional body
- Lead the different discipline teams throughout the project maintaining a ‘Best for Alliance’ environment.
- Delivery of key elements of the BEE Project in a safe and environmentally responsible manner to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the Alliance Principles.
- Agreeing timescales, costs and resources needed to deliver a project
- Drawing up a detailed plan for how to achieve each stage of a project
- Selecting and leading a project team
- Directing a multi-disciplinary Construction and Rail team
- Communicating with staff at every level in a calm, personable way
- Overseeing several sections of the projects at the same time
- Ensuring that each stage of the project happens on time, on budget and to a high standard
- Reporting regularly on progress to the Project Director and stakeholders
- Resolving any issues or delays
