💷 Salary: £35,663 - A Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%

In addition to your basic salary of £35,663, this role attracts a non-pensionable technical allowance of £1,475. Employees working from a base office location within the M25 will receive an additional non-pensionable London weighting allowance of £4,000.

As Earned Recognition Mech Maintenance Manager, you’ll lead our nationwide team of examiners, ensuring our service meets the highest DVSA standards. You’ll bring technical expertise, drive audit quality, and shape best practices in partnership with the National Account Manager. Your leadership will foster an inclusive, high-performing team that delivers efficient, high-quality service and achieves business targets.

Top Responsibilities

* Monitor, develop and implement the Earned Recognition audit standards, maintenance standards, KPIs and develop audit standards for associated schemes.

* Oversee the monitoring of external audit providers ensuring they are acting in accordance with their accreditation.

* Using expert knowledge work with the Earned Recognition team to develop ER products from inception through to implementation and if necessary, closure.

* Act as point of DVSA contact for scheme members and liaise with trade associations and external bodies to represent the Earned Recognition Scheme

* Conduct desk-based assessment of operator’s processes and procedures to ensure that they meet regulatory requirements and ER standards.

* Visit operators where necessary in order to develop and maintain good working relationship and to overcome any particular issues arising.

* Manage a team of examiners based in locations nationwide.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:

* Proven experience of auditing with transport sector expertise

* Ability to correctly interpret legislative and operator licence requirements to review and write new audit standards keeping pace with any changes

* Experience of frontline delivery, within an enforcement setting

* Proven experience in the use of Digital systems and computer programs

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a drive and commitment to succeed

* Good communication skills with the ability to lead and influence others through a range of techniques

Essential qualifications/licenses

* NVQ level 1, 2 & 3 in motor vehicle studies and a BTEC national qualification in motor vehicle studies, or equivalent

You should also hold the ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or equivalent qualification or be willing to work towards when in post.
