Team Manager – EMPOWER U Team (Exploitation and Missing Hub)

About the role
: A 12‑18 month fixed‑term contract for external candidates, based in Birmingham. The successful candidate will lead the EMPOWER U hub in child exploitation, missing children and related risks including serious youth violence.
- Supervise and lead a team of Exploitation and Missing Coordinators and Missing Support Workers.
- Support development of practice guidance and awareness-raising aligned with contextual safeguarding.
- Write and analyse performance reports.
- Chair disruption‑planning meetings, missing meetings, serious youth violence meetings, complex planning meetings, and NRM panels.
- Promote and manage culture change; develop a positive working culture.
- Attend child‑in‑care planning meetings where appropriate, supporting care/safety plans and locality assessments.
- Maintain highest standards of practice and empower others to do the same.
- Work flexible, extended hours which may include weekends.
- Safeguard scrutiny and oversight of children missing from home or care; may need to supervise staff/students.
- Act as deputy in the absence of a Team Manager.
- Proven experience supervising and leading a team.
- Excellent chairing, analytical, communication and partnership working skills.
- Established knowledge of contextual safeguarding and child exploitation/missing cases.
- Experience working with social care services, police, education, health, voluntary sector and other relevant agencies.
- Ability to work independently, challenge partner agencies and advocate for children, parents and carers.
