Birmingham Airport is seeking a dedicated and forward‑thinking Business Continuity Manager to ensure the airport can maintain safe, secure, and efficient operations during disruptions, emergencies, or crises.

This pivotal role safeguards critical airport functions—from passenger services and airside operations to security and IT—by developing, implementing, and testing robust continuity strategies. Acting as a central coordinator across departments, you will ensure resilience planning aligns with regulatory requirements, industry best practice, and international aviation standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and provide direction to the Incident Management Team during operational disruptions
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the airport’s business continuity framework in line with aviation regulations and best practice
  • Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses across terminals, airside operations, cargo, and IT systems
  • Coordinate continuity planning with airlines, ground handlers, emergency services, government agencies, and other key stakeholders
  • Deliver crisis response exercises and simulations to strengthen preparedness and operational resilience
  • Provide on‑call coverage for approximately 10 weeks per year as part of the Tactical Incident Management Team rota
Experience

Required:
  • Proven experience in business continuity, risk management, or emergency planning within aviation, transport, or critical infrastructure
  • Experience managing continuity programmes across complex environments with 1,000+ employees or multiple operational units
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Government Resilience Framework, Civil Contingencies Act 2004, CAA UK Regulation No. 139/2014, and ISO 22301
  • Demonstrated ability to lead crisis simulations and coordinate multi‑agency responses
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience working with government bodies, airlines, and emergency services
  • Professional certification in Business Continuity or equivalent, with strong analytical, communication, and decision‑making capabilities

Join us and contribute to making Birmingham Airport a resilient, efficient, and customer‑focused gateway for millions of passengers every year.
