Birmingham Public Schools is seeking a Second Shift Custodian.

• Maintain a courteous, friendly, and professional relationship with staff and district stakeholders.
• Cooperate with maintenance and facility staff to schedule activities and repairs.
• Assure that all custodial equipment is used properly, cared for, stored, and maintained; report malfunctioning equipment by submitting a work order.
• Fold laundry and put it away; contact Stevie if laundry is not picked up or needs completion.
• Use custodial building supplies and equipment efficiently and properly.
• Communicate with custodial supervisor daily.
• Assist with custodial assignments due to normal scheduling, absenteeism, special activities, and projects.
• Assist with disinfecting if COVID cases are identified in buildings.
• Complete all tasks as assigned.
• Provide outstanding customer service to work effectively with district staff and administrators.
• Apply knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Work well with the public and outside groups.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills and meet deadlines.
• Handle a multitude of issues/responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Arrive early (up to two hours) for snow removal to ensure walkways are clear before school starts (on call).
• Lift up to 25 lbs; push/pull equipment.
• Stand, walk, and regularly ascend/descend stairs for 90% of the scheduled shift.
• Reach above head and below waist.
• Work overtime as required.
