Role: Warehouse Operative
Location: Birmingham – James House (SCC operates hybrid working, which comprises a mix of office and home working)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary Package: £23,907 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid‑for volunteering days a year
Hours: Monday – Friday, 11:30am – 8:00pm

The role of a warehouse operative is varied and depends on the shift assigned. Key tasks include:
- Goods Inwards
- Putaway/Replenishment
- Picking/Packing
- Stock Checking
- QA Despatch
Security clearance or willingness to apply will be required for this role.
Key Responsibilities- Perform your role to the highest standard of safety in accordance with company health and safety policy, warehouse operating procedures, risk assessments and Traffic Management Policy specific to the National Distribution Centre.
- Adhere to relevant procedures and processes concerning ISO accreditations, as outlined in SharePoint.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the warehouse.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately.
- Report to the departmental supervisor that your work meets the correct standard and is completed timely.
- Demonstrate a high level of focus and awareness with regard to site and stock security.
- Maintain a good working relationship with colleagues and promote team working.
- Report any dangerous occurrences and damage to plant and machinery to line management.
- Undertake Health and Safety activities in line with SCC Group Health and Safety Policy.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned by a supervisor or management. Flexibility to embrace all aspects of NDC functions is required.
- Computer literate
- Competent in using wrist‑mounted scanning equipment
- Possession of relevant clearances (SC Clearances)
- Strong work ethic and communication skills
- Experience in a warehouse environment preferred but not essential
- Physically fit with general computer knowledge
