Trainee Freight Forwarder

• Managing air and ocean freight shipments—both import and export—while ensuring all tasks such as documentation, bookings, shipment tracking, insurance, invoicing, and customs processes meet internal quality standards.
• Liaising and negotiating with carriers and service partners to secure the best possible arrangements.
• Supporting customers alongside the sales team, including joining client meetings when needed.
• Creating and issuing quotations for new and existing business.
• Carrying out the full responsibilities of internal/inside sales to help progress opportunities through the pipeline.
• Processing and coordinating dangerous goods shipments in line with DGR rules.
• Handling customer issues and claims in accordance with BIFA guidelines, ensuring accurate KPI reporting.
• Communicating regularly with UK colleagues, international branches, and overseas agents to maintain smooth operations.
• Reviewing job files to confirm accuracy, correct reporting, and overall profitability.
• Ensuring cost-effective transport solutions are used while maintaining required service standards.
• Having a clear understanding of administrative processes and the back-office support functions within the UK operation.
