A leading national law firm is seeking a Trust Administrator to join its highly regarded Private Client team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within one of the UK's top-ranked firms, working alongside experts in trusts, estates, and wealth management.
The TeamThe Private Client team advises a wide range of clients, including high-net-worth individuals, families, business owners, landowners, and charities. The work includes will drafting, estate planning, complex tax planning, trust and estate administration, powers of attorney, and charity advice and governance. You ll be joining a collaborative, nationally integrated team that combines technical excellence with a personal, client-focused approach.
The RoleAs a Trust Administrator, you ll support partners and lawyers in the day-to-day administration and management of trusts, ensuring all work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant regulations. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines trust-related administration and fee-earning work.
Key responsibilities- Managing and administering trusts, including maintaining accurate accounting records and data entry into trust accounting systems
- Preparing trust and tax returns for HMRC
- Liaising with banks, investment managers, and other third parties regarding trust funds and investments
- Corresponding with beneficiaries, trustees, and clients regarding the administration of assets
- Making payments to beneficiaries and handling financial transactions
- Running files under supervision and ensuring compliance with firm processes
This role provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of trust matters and to develop your technical and professional skills within an expert team.
About YouYou will be a motivated, detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with people and numbers. The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in trust administration or a related financial or legal role (advantageous but not essential)
- Strong numerical and data-handling skills, with good working knowledge of Excel or similar tools
- Excellent written English and a confident telephone manner
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Keen attention to detail and a collaborative team approach
- Experience in preparing basic accounts or knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping (advantageous)
- STEP qualification or working towards one (desirable but not required)
