Our business is ambitious for success and seeks a solicitor or associate to join our expanding regulatory and business defence team. Candidates should be interested in growing the business and managing a valued client base while working across a broad range of regulatory and criminal matters.
Responsibilities- Police & HSE investigations including fatal accidents (corporate manslaughter, gross negligence manslaughter, H&S prosecutions).
- Environment Agency and Water Utilities investigations into pollution incidents, watercourse pollution, unlawful waste transfer, breaches of trade effluent regime.
- Trading Standards investigations into consumer protection breaches (misleading labelling, etc).
- EHO investigations into hygiene issues at retail outlets, bars, etc.
- Fire & Rescue Authority investigations into fire safety breaches arising from inspections and fires.
- Police, SFO, NCA investigations into white‑collar crime (fraud, bribery, AML, etc).
- Cautioned interviews and prosecutions by all regulators in the criminal sphere in England & Wales jurisdiction.
- Coroner’s inquests.
- Building Safety Act compliance and breaches.
- Experience of a broad range of criminal matters (mainstream criminal defence practitioners are welcome; training in the regulatory side is available).
- Experience of regulatory matters for sectors such as H&S, CQC, and EA (important if lacking full criminal experience).
- Willingness to learn – breadth of work is unique to our team.
- Ability to travel for site visits and court cases when needed.
- Ambition to build and grow a client network within professional services.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, confident manner in engaging with clients and colleagues.
- A strong team‑work ethic and capability to work effectively under pressure.

This opportunity is open to a lawyer currently operating at solicitor or associate level with 2‑6 years’ PQE in regulatory, H&S, or criminal law. We also consider more junior lawyers with criminal experience who show drive and enthusiasm for the regulatory side.
