Job Description
Are you an experienced Underwriter with Cyber knowledge? If so, we would love to hear from you. We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to be a key part of Chubb's Cyber Underwriting team. This role will focus on new business development in the upper SME/lower middle‑market segment. You would be responsible for new business underwriting and trading with broker partners, including pipelining, quoting, negotiating and writing new Cyber business.
This position will suit someone with experience of Cyber in the SME/lower middle‑market segment and will have a core focus on growing Chubb’s external profile in the market.
- Work closely with the Regional Cyber Manager to drive development opportunities, including devising strategies to achieve depth and breadth penetration of the market in Cyber Insurance.
- Financial Goals:
Underwrite new business or renewals according to defined underwriting guidelines, specified budget and local business plan. - Portfolio Integrity:
Assist in formulating underwriting strategy, forecasts and portfolio management to achieve underwriting profitability. Ensure quality control within defined area of responsibility through quantitative underwriting reviews, running management meetings and peer reviews. - Product Development:
Prioritise and develop products within area of specialist expertise to improve client retention and new business. May involve collaborating with peers within and across business lines in Europe as well as globally. - Producer Management:
Represent and promote Chubb corporately to brokers, internal and external clients. Service key producers and clients, monitor business acquisition and retention, maximise cross‑selling opportunities and execute business plans to maximise opportunities with brokers. - Procedures:
Meet company standards in respect of policy documentation, time frames for quoting new and renewal business and compliance issues. - Operational Management:
Manage junior colleagues using peer review process, providing mentoring, training and coaching where appropriate to build a high‑quality underwriting team and allocate resources to meet objectives. - Chubb Representative:
Represent and promote Chubb and maintain permanent contact with internal colleagues and clients, including major clients. - Build and maintain a strong external reputation, behaving consistently with Chubb’s core values and culture both internally and externally.
- Experience in Cyber or Professional Indemnity lines of business and dealing directly with clients on complex matters.
- Basic knowledge of insurance and proactive in identifying opportunities and taking initiatives to support business goals.
- Excellent communication with strong influencing and negotiation skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to build solid business relationships with brokers and customers, demonstrating analytical and financial analysis skills.
- Proficiency in sales and marketing, proactive self‑starter, confident to make decisions independently and in collaboration with colleagues or managers, and will refer to colleagues when required.
