Head of Digital Innovation & Data

The Head of Digital Innovation and Data is responsible for leading the development, definition, and governance of the organisation’s enterprise data architecture and supporting the Director of IT & Business Services in the creation and delivery of the organisation’s data strategy.

The role acts as the organisation’s senior data authority, working across the organisation to ensure data is structured, governed, and changed in line with agreed standards and IT governance, enabling effective management information, digital services, and operational outcomes

• Lead thedesign, documentation, and maintenance of the organisation’s enterprise data architecture.
• Support the Director of IT & Business Services todevelop, review, and evolve the data strategy, providing expert advice, analysis, and recommendations.
• Translate agreed data strategy into practical architectural standards, roadmaps, and design principles.

• Define, implement, and maintain enterprise data standards, definitions, and architectural patterns.
• Act as thedesign authority for enterprise data architecture, ensuring consistency and quality across systems and services.
• Ensure data-related initiatives and changes align with agreed architecture and IT governance processes.

• Work with business teams to understand data needs and guide requests and changes through appropriate IT governance channels.
• Collaborate closely with the Market Intelligence & Insights team to ensure reporting and analytics are underpinned by well-structured, governed data.
• Partner with IT, digital, and system owners to ensure solutions align with the agreed enterprise data architecture.

• Experience indata architecture, data governance, or data management
• Proven ability to contribute to strategy development while operating within clear accountability
• Strong understanding of data modelling, integration, and platforms
• Experience influencing across organisational boundaries
• Understanding of IT governance and change control
• Experience working alongside or within MI, BI, or analytics teams
• Experience in complex or regulated environments
• Familiarity with Data Architecture models
• Strong executive communication and performance reporting capability.
• Reporting to the Director of IT & Business Services, and supporting strategy, priorities, and governance
• Working across the organisation with wider Data Teams such as the Market Intelligence & Insights, alignment on data structures and quality
• Working with the wider IT Team to ensure appropriate solution designs and delivery timescales
• Provide architectural input and assurance to projects, programmes, and initiatives impacting enterprise data.
• Identify data risks, dependencies, and technical debt, and advise on mitigation and prioritisation.
• Support consistent and controlled delivery of data-related change across the organisation
• Lead and develop the data architecture capability within Digital Innovation & Data Team.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on data architecture and governance matters.
• Champion good data practice, clarity of data ownership, and adherence to standards across the organisation.
• Lead and Development any team resources within the Digital Innovation & Data Team.
• The IT and Business Services team is building the capability needed to support the organisation and realise the full potential of its data assets and emerging technologies. The Head of Digital Innovation and Data will provide leadership on data architecture and innovation, enabling the adoption of best‑practice data approaches to improve operational efficiency and data quality.
