We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and driven Senior IT Auditor to join our Corporate Assurance team within the Finance & Business Services Directorate. This is more than a traditional audit role - it’s your chance to shape the organisations approach to IT assurance, strengthen critical governance arrangements, and ensure our technology landscape remains resilient, secure and well‑controlled.
In this influential position, you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality audit work that directly informs the organisations annual assurance statement. You’ll engage with senior stakeholders, lead targeted IT audit assignments, and provide insightful, practical recommendations that genuinely strengthen risk management, controls and governance across our technology estate. If you thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy untangling complex IT risks, and want to make a tangible impact at enterprise level, this could be the perfect next step.
You will be based at one of our office locations and will be required to spend 40% of your working week on site.
What you’ll be doing .- Lead and deliver a diverse portfolio of IT audit assignments across areas such as cyber security, IT operations, ERP systems, vendor management, and project delivery - ensuring robust assurance that feeds into the annual governance assessment.
- Scope and plan individual audit reviews, deliver high‑quality fieldwork, and produce clear, insightful reports that communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
- Provide objective, practical advice to management on IT risk, internal control, and governance, helping strengthen and embed best practice across the organisation.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels - including senior leaders, directors, and technical teams - ensuring audit work is valued and outcomes are understood.
- Lead small audit teams when required, ensuring the consistent delivery of professional standards and high‑quality outputs.
- Work with stakeholders to agree meaningful management actions, ensuring root causes are addressed and improvements are delivered in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of audit methodology, tools, and practices within the Corporate Assurance function.
- Act as a subject‑matter specialist in one or more IT domains, supporting colleagues and elevating expertise across the wider audit team.
- You’re an experienced IT auditor with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. We’re looking for someone with:
- A CISA qualification (or equivalent), or a commitment to achieving one.
- Strong experience delivering IT audits to a high professional standard.
- Knowledge of recognised audit and IT management frameworks (e.g., COBIT, ITIL) and areas such as cyber security, ERP systems, IT risk, and IT project delivery (Agile/Waterfall).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, accessible insights.
- The ability to work independently, make sound judgements, and manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- High attention to detail and the confidence to challenge and influence where needed.
- Experience with audit data analytics tools (such as IDEA or ACL) is desirable.
