The OpportunityWe work closely with other disciplines in Arup to find sustainable solutions that meet our client’s objectives. We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Senior Security Consultant/System Engineer to join our world‑leading security consultancy. A strong foundation in security consulting and system design/implementation is essential.
The role demands a high degree of technical ability and some commercial exposure. The primary focus will be the day‑to‑day design of security systems across our portfolio, ensuring delivery to a consistently high standard and meeting client and stakeholder expectations.
Is this role right for you?The suitable candidate will have proven skills in delivering security projects within the built environment, with demonstrable experience working in a multi‑disciplinary engineering consultancy. You will possess a relevant qualification in security or a built‑environment discipline, or substantial industry experience. Ideally you will hold or be working towards professional membership of a UK security institution such as the Security Institute, RSES, or ASIS.
WeAre Looking For The Following Skills And Knowledge
- Design and delivery of integrated solutions using the latest technology for security design (e.g., video surveillance, access control, intruder detection).
- Integration with third‑party site‑based systems (fire, BMS, etc.).
- Knowledge and implementation of physical barrier systems – pedestrian turnstiles, electronic gate systems, perimeter fences, vehicle gates and barriers, hostile vehicle mitigation systems.
- Appreciation of current industry initiatives such as SABRE, Secured by Design, etc.
- Physical design of facilities and controlled areas to mitigate forced entry with manual or powered tools.
- Contribution to threat, vulnerability and risk assessments.
- Experience in BIM and Revit environments, with guidance to junior consultants.
- Capability to conduct technical security reviews, audits, design surveys, installation inspections, approvals, and similar tasks.
- Experience in sectors such as Data centres, Aviation, Government / defence.
