Legal Technology Engineer – Permanent – Birmingham, UK Base pay range
Salary ranges from £50,000-£60,000.
Key responsibilities- Work with IT and business teams to spot areas where technology can simplify or speed up processes.
- Turn business needs into clear solution options that are practical and deliverable.
- Build and test solutions across areas such as document automation, workflows and portals.
- Act as the point of contact between teams, suppliers and clients to ensure smooth delivery.
- Shape and refine AI assistant playbooks and everyday workflows.
- Create and improve prompts that help users get better results from AI tools.
- Provide hands‑on support and training to users.
- Review how tools are being used and collect feedback to help with ongoing improvements.
- Keep communication clear throughout all stages of delivery.
- Bring stakeholders along and help manage any delivery risks.
- Support the wider rollout of AI‑powered tools across the firm.
- Work with suppliers and potential vendors to understand new solutions and assess their potential use within a professional services environment.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
You will come from a background in technology, professional services or an environment where digital solutions are at the heart of how teams operate. You will bring:
- Exposure to platforms like HighQ, Clarilis, Clio, Contract Express, Net Express or Document Drafter would be highly beneficial.
- Experience working with platforms such as workflow tools, document automation or portal solutions.
- A strong analytical approach and the ability to solve problems with clear thinking.
- Confident communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A willingness to learn new tools and support others in doing the same.
- Ability to turn business challenges into straightforward technology solutions.
- Comfort working both independently and within a team.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle competing priorities.
- Interest or experience in AI assistants, prompt creation or automation tools.
- Confidence in helping users adopt new tools and ways of working.
- Ability to understand how the business operates and how systems fit together.
- Ability to explain technical ideas in a simple way.
- Ability to build trust with senior stakeholders.
- A positive, responsible and honest approach.
- Ability to manage deadlines and stay organised.
- Comfort working on your own initiative and as part of a team.
