Field Service Technician / Engineer - Birmingham

Job Overview: We have a great opportunity at nGeneration for a Field Service Engineer. The role requires identifying and fixing hardware and configuration issues, repairing devices, and excellent client interaction skills.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct daily visits to customer sites to install, refurbish, and maintain EPoS equipment, chip and pin devices, tablets, digital menu boards, media screens, kitchen management systems, routers, Wi‑Fi, and related IT equipment.
• Provide on‑site equipment swap‑out services, minimizing downtime during replacements.
• Set up Wi‑Fi devices and troubleshoot faults with data network cables on‑site.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical, hardware, or software issues during site visits, escalating to appropriate team when necessary.
• Document troubleshooting steps and obtain client sign‑off before completing tasks.
• Travel to client sites UK‑wide; may require overnight stays.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of IT support experience (preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of EPOS experience (preferred, but not essential – training provided).
• Experience in installing, integrating, and testing EPOS hardware and software, or analogous IT installations.
• Technical mindset, logical and methodical troubleshooting approach.
• Experience identifying faults with data network cables; prior IT Network Engineer or Telecoms/Broadband Engineer roles desirable.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Willingness to travel to client sites daily (100%).
• Clean UK Full Manual Driver’s Licence (required).

Salary: £28,678 per annum (including On‑Call Supplement)

Job Type: Full‑Time, Permanent

Working Hours: 13‑hour shifts, 3 days on / 3 days off rota (inclusive of weekends and bank holidays)
