The Opportunity

The HR Advisor provides first line HR support to managers and employees, providing timely, professional, and consistent advice across all aspects of HR. The HR Advisor will support HR Business Partners (HRBPs) with project delivery, contribute to the continuous improvement of people practices, ensure compliance with HR legislation, and provide coaching to line managers to enhance capability. The role will also involve supporting the HR Services team with transactional HR activities as and when required.

Location: This role will be based at our Head Office in Birmingham (Trinity Park, B37 7ES
) with an informal arrangement to allow hybrid working

What you will be doing

  • Act as the first point of contact for managers and employees, providing clear and pragmatic HR advice on policies, procedures, and best practice.
  • Manage and respond to general HR queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support and lead on employee relations cases and meetings including disciplinary, grievance, capability, and absence management. Escalating complex or high‑risk ER issues to the HRBPs.
  • Draft appropriate invite and outcome letters.
  • Proactively lead on absence and performance management across the business, providing support to line managers.
  • Support HRBPs to deliver HR projects and initiatives (engagement, restructuring and change programmes).
  • Support TUPE transfers ensuring data capture and consultation compliance.
  • Deliver informal coaching and guidance sessions to line managers to build confidence and capability in people management.
  • Promote consistent application of policies and procedures through education and guidance.
  • Support the review and updating of HR policies and procedures in line with legislation.
  • Provide and analyse regular HR metrics and management information to support decision‑making.
  • Identifying trends and areas for improvement within HR processes or employee relations.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date HR records and systems.
  • Provide support to the HR Services team during busy periods or absences.
  • Assist with transactional HR activities such as processing new starters, contractual changes, leavers, and employee correspondence.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • Proven experience as an HR Advisor or equivalent within a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing or supporting a range of employee relations cases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility at all levels.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Confident navigating HR Systems.

Due to the nature of the role, there may be a requirement to attend site driven by business need, therefore a UK driving licence is essential for this role.
