Our Catering Teamplays a vital role in creating a warm, welcoming environment for patients,visitors and colleagues. From preparing meals for inpatients to supporting our Living Well centres and events, the team ensures every dish is made and served with care, dignity, and the highest standards of food safety.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Catering/Kitchen Assistant to join our bankteam at our Selly Park site. Youll support our chefs in preparing and serving meals and snacks, keeping our kitchen running smoothly, and ensuring excellenthygiene and food safety at all times.
What Youll Be Doing:
Preparing and serving meals
Cleaning and maintaining kitchen and dining areas
Restockinggoods and supplies
Supporting the catering for hospice events
Usinga till and cash handling (training will be provided)
Main duties of the jobWhat Were Looking For:
Good standard of education with CIEH Level2 in Food Hygiene (attained within the last 3 years, or willingness to undertake)
Catering experience in a professional kitchen and an awareness of food safety legislation
Experience of keeping records (e.g completing work schedules)
Excellent communication, people, time management and customer service skills
Physically able to undertake lifting and manual handling activities

Job purpose
To assist the Chef(s) within the catering service with preparation and serving meals for patients, visitors, staff and volunteers. Providing flexible support to ensure the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and quality are always maintained.
To ensure cleanliness of food and beverage service areas and equipment.
Catering Service
Undertake basic food preparation to assist the Chef(s)
Prepare and serve mealsand snacks for Hospice service users taking into account any special dietaryrequirements and cultural, ethnic and religious considerations.
Clear away and wash upafter food preparation, mealtimes or meetings/events etc.
Cleaning and restockingwater coolers, vending machines and other snack and beverage services.
Be responsible for handling and following procedures to process income from the Dining Room, including use of till, till reconciliation and cash handling.
Undertake duties required by the catering department to support on-site events.
Receive deliveries and putgoods into correct storage ensuring quality and good safety checks are completed.
Maintain high standards bycompliance with internal policies and procedures including infection control and food safety legislation.
Ensure kitchen, service,dining areas and storerooms are kept hygienically clean and tidy.
Ensure the dining room isclean, tidy and ready for food service.
Use all equipment safelyand report any broken or faulty equipment to the appropriate person.
Assist with supervisingvolunteers in the department.
To be available at short notice and display flexibility to provide cover during absence within theteam.
