Grade: Consultant
Location: Birmingham, West Midlands
Working Hours: 40 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry to join our NHS client in Birmingham, West Midlands. This locum opportunity is available for an immediate start on a short-term contract.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert psychiatric care within a CAMHS inpatient setting, specifically within a General Adolescent Unit (GAU)
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop tailored treatment plans for young people
  • Act as the Responsible Clinician (RC) and ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act (MHA)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic, patient‑centred care
  • Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to service development and clinical governance
Qualifications & Experience
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise (essential)
  • Approved Clinician (AC) status (essential)
  • Extensive experience in CAMHS, inpatient psychiatry, and GAU settings
  • Previous experience in a consultant role
