The Neuroendocrine Tumour (NET) Dietitian at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham delivers a specialist nutrition service within a European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society Centre of Excellence. The role provides expert nutritional assessment and evidence-based dietary management for adults with NETs across inpatient and outpatient settings. The post holder manages complex conditions including malabsorption, pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, insulinoma, gastrointestinal obstruction, carcinoid heart disease, and post‑pancreatic surgery, with the aim of optimising nutritional status, preventing malnutrition, and improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
This is a part time post for 18.75 hours per week.
Main duties of the job- Provide a dietetic service for both inpatient and outpatients with neuroendocrine tumours (NET) at QEHB.
- Provide the service using a high level of knowledge, skills and experience as an independent practitioner.
- Act as an expert nutritional resource and educate and train other Dietitians, health professionals and dietetic students.
- Take a lead within the specialist area for audit, service development and implementation of evidence-based guidelines, protocols and policies.
- Be responsible for training and clinical supervision of junior staff.
- Provide highly specialised nutritional assessment of this patient group, including dietary assessment, body composition and assessment of risk of maldigestion.
- Provide highly specialised nutritional advice for patients, including nutrition support, dietary manipulation, management of malabsorption, management of bowel obstructions and (home) enteral feeding.
- Work and communicate appropriately with patients, carers and relatives who will be undergoing a high level of distress due to the nature of their treatments/disease.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of other healthcare professionals including the wider NET MDT, ward staff, outpatient clinic staff, community dietitians and GPs.

- Evidence of relevant GCSE, NVQ, GNVQ, AS and A levels
- Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
- Registration with HCPC
- MSc or equivalent experience e.g., advanced level of clinical practice / relevant postgraduate, professionally accredited courses
- Significant post‑graduate experience in relevant specialist area
- Practical skill & in‑depth experience in a multi‑disciplinary setting in relevant specialist field evidenced by a learning portfolio and leading to advanced theoretical knowledge in area/s of clinical practice
- Significant to substantial postgraduate experience of working in a specialist capacity in multi‑disciplinary teams leading to the acquisition of advanced theoretical knowledge and highly developed skills.
- Experience of training Dietetic students
- Evidence of relevant continuous professional development in the following areas
