Senior Pharmacy Technician Clinical Trials

We're looking for an enthusiastic, confident, and self‑motivated Pharmacy Technician who is eager to specialise in clinical trials and become part of our well‑established, forward‑thinking team.

You'll join a dynamic group of pharmacists and technicians who support the delivery of more than 100 active clinical trials. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop specialist expertise while playing a key role in studies that span academic, National Clinical Research Network‑adopted, commercial, and non‑commercial research.

What you'll be doing
  • Supporting the pharmaceutical aspects of a wide range of clinical trials
  • Providing high‑quality technical support to the Pharmacy Clinical Trials team
  • Managing day‑to‑day tasks involved in the safe and effective provision of clinical trial services across the Trust
What we're looking for
  • BTEC & NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Science Certificate
  • Accredited Checking Technician qualification
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • A proactive, organised individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for research

This role requires flexibility, including working across both the Women's and Children's Hospitals, as well as participation in late‑night, weekend, and bank‑holiday rotas.

Main duties of the job
  • To work as a Senior Pharmacy Technician within the Clinical Trials Team & multidisciplinary team providing technical support to the pharmacy clinical trials team at the Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Organise and participate in the dispensing and accuracy checking of clinical trial prescriptions.
  • To be a member of the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team and Research and Development Team.
  • To support service improvements to the pharmacy clinical trials service.
  • Line management duties of the Specialist Assistant Technical Officers within the Pharmacy clinical trials team.
  • To carry out the day‑to‑day tasks relating to the provision of clinical trials within the Trust.
