We have an exciting opportunity within our oncology/haematology team  are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic band 6 Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) trainer. You will support the education needs associated with the delivery of anti-cancer treatments across our Trust. We are continuing to expand and develop our oncology and haematology services across all our hospital sites, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your career.

We are looking to appoint a practitioner who is passionate and can support the vision nursing has in the delivery of anti-cancer treatments, and who can utilise opportunities to develop the scope of practice of the nursing team within the department. There are real opportunities to support the development of existing staff and expand their skills, knowledge, and confidence in cancer nursing.

You will also support the ongoing development of SACT e‑prescribing system.

You will be well supported to work as part of the Team. You will have a key role in developing the nursing, medical and other allied health care professionals' education needs specific to the safe administration of anti‑cancer drugs.

You will be an experienced Registered Nurse who has relevant and recent experience of delivering anti‑cancer treatments to a high standard, to be shortlisted you must ensure your supporting information demonstrates how you fit the essential person specification criteria with specific reference to experience and knowledge.

Main duties of the job
  • Needs to be NMC Registered
  • Evidence of post registration CPD
  • Significant experience of administrating SACT, including SACT passport
  • Significant post registration experience, with evidence of passion/enthusiasm and knowledge for the associated area of specialist practice
  • Strong understanding of national SACT standards and safety requirements
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and presentation skills
  • Deliver engaging, evidence‑based training sessions on SACT and related supporting subjects.
  • Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and on‑the‑job coaching
  • Understanding of the cancer patients journey and passion for cancer nursing

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
  • Evidence of post registration CPD / post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to FHEQ Level 6
Experience
  • Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
  • Significant post registration experience, with evidence of passion/enthusiasm and knowledge for the associated area of specialist practice
  • Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on‑going professional development/competence
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality
  • Experience and enthusiasm for teaching/assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting
  • Experience of working in a multi‑disciplinary and cross‑agency work environment
  • Demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice‑based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the NMC
Additional Criteria
  • Ability to explain the requirement to balance clinical caseload and developing skills, knowledge and competence
  • Willingness to achieve competence in a range of clinical skills.
  • Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance
  • Ability to adapt behaviour to changing circumstances
  • Ability to work a varied shift pattern where required and ability to work across UHB sites
