Job Summary
The post holder will provide a general phlebotomy/hca service for the Practice, perform health checks and assist with NHS Health Checks.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate patient records using clinical systems.
- Ensure clinical areas are kept clean, stocked, and compliant with infection control standards.
- Support health promotion and lifestyle advice under clinician direction.
- May be asked to undertake other administrative duties from time to time.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and work under the direct supervision of the Practice Director within Practice Guidelines and Protocols at all times.
- Provide a sessional phlebotomy service for patients, ensuring laboratory samples are correctly labelled and sent to the laboratory promptly.
- Record all patient encounters on the practice clinical computer system using templates.
- Carry out basic procedures such as BP monitoring, ECGs, wound care, and phlebotomy.
- Support chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, asthma reviews) under guidance.
- Administer vaccinations and injections (if trained and under appropriate protocols).
- Assist in clinics such as smear clinics or minor surgeries (chaperoning when required).
- Undertake CPR training and other training relating to the service as required.
- Be responsible for the re‑stocking of all clinical areas and maintaining a stock rotation system.
- Participate in the induction programme of staff new to the practice.
- Function as an integral part of the Primary Health Care Team.
- Attend relevant clinical meetings as required.
- Act within the boundaries of Health and Safety legislation and Data Protection Acts.
- Report immediately to a member of the clinical staff or the Practice Director any acts of omission or error to safeguard the interest of the patient.

- Promote and maintain own health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy.
- Use personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines.
- Identify risks involved in work activities and undertake such activities in a way that manages those risks.
- Make effective use of training to update knowledge and skills.
- Use appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas tidy and safe and free from hazards.
- Report potential risks identified.
- Safe management of sharps procedures, including training, use, storage and disposal.
- Spillage control procedures, management and training.
- Support the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues.
- Act in a way that recognizes the importance of peoples rights, interpreting them consistently with Practice procedures, policies and current legislation.
- Respect the privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of patients, carers and colleagues.

- Participate in any training programme implemented by the Practice.
- Attend an annual individual performance review and maintain a record of own personal and/or professional development.
