We are looking for a highly motivated and committed therapist with skills in holistic, client-centred practice, for a post at Band 7 in the Neurodevelopmental (ND) Team across the city of Birmingham, working alongside a range of professionals including children s therapy, clinical psychology and medical colleagues, education and local authority partners.
Responsibilities- The successful candidate will be offering, evaluating and developing assessment and support of children with social communication difficulties and profound and multiple disabilities in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Offer support to more junior team members and students.
- Be trained to use a wide range of standardised assessments as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Maintain strong clinical and caseload management skills and a passion for working with children with SEND, with a specific interest in the assessment and diagnosis of Autism.
- Work with a range of clients, their families and others to achieve meaningful outcomes.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and team-working skills.
- Be willing to work in a full range of locations across Birmingham, including child development centres, education settings and family homes, and undertake some assessments virtually.
- Have good IT skills to make effective use of mobile working technology and IT systems.

- Carrying out specialist assessments in the service area and developing programmes of care and treatment to meet client needs in accordance with agreed pathways.
- Negotiating with multi-disciplinary colleagues and carers regarding complex cases and appropriate referrals.
- Using specialist knowledge to inform clinical judgments and decisions for highly complex cases, including discharge decisions.
- Undertaking differential diagnosis and contributing to decision-making for complex clients as part of a team.
- Planning interventions and delivering assessments and therapy in groups and one-to-one sessions.
- Delegating therapy programmes to assistants, acting as mentor and supervisor as per local policy.
- Providing treatment based on best practice and advising other professionals/parents on appropriate support in home/school environments.
- Assessing and monitoring therapeutic equipment; liaising with other agencies and educating parents/carers on safety.
- Triage referrals to ensure criteria are met.
- Communicating complex information to clients, carers and the MDT; adapting communication to individual circumstances.
- Providing training and second opinions on complex case management.
- Working with Service Leads and Operational Managers to address clinical issues and support service transformation and innovation.
- Ensuring clinical quality and managing clinical risk; leading audits and reviews of evidence to underpin current practice.
