We have a very exciting opportunity for a qualified member of staff to join us in Hot Hand Clinic.
This role will give you the chance to develop new and exciting skills.
This position is open to band 5 and above with a minimum of 2 years post registration.
We are seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our small team who will embrace this ever changing role.
Our role is constantly developing as we become more clinical in order to provide a seamless holistic service.
There will be opportunity for the successful applicant to develop assessing skills working closely with consultants, ED, outpatient Hands, Dressing clinic and theatres.
Main duties of the jobHere in Hot Hand Clinic we treat a vast variety of hand injuries.
We currently work Monday to Friday and one Sunday in five. This is changable.
Our day to day duties involve :
- Attending MDT, reviewing patient from the last 24 hours with the duty consultant, ensuring follow up and outcomes are booked and correct.
- Overseeing smooth running of our busy clinic/procedure room whilst supporting HCA on shift.
- Managing referrals from other hospitals and ED.
- Planning theatre lists for the following days liaising with consultants and theatre staff.
- Taking and triaging patient calls ensuring the correct pathways are in place and that patients are safety netted.
- Preparing hand over with detail and precision.
This is in addition to generic band 6 duties and is not exhaustive.

- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
- Evidence of post registration experience in an acute setting.
- The ability and willingness to use multiple clinical IT systems.
- Health Assessment post graduate qualification / willingness to work towards
- Knowledge of standards and policies associated with role.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment.
- Demonstrable understanding of the national / NHSE diagnostic/ therapeutic expectations / strategy around endoscopy services and can relate this to the role.
- Demonstrable understanding of clinical governance / patient safety process's -- can relate this to the role in relation to their personal/professional accountability.
- Post registration experience with evidence of knowledge and development for the associated area of specialist practice.
- In depth knowledge of specialist procedures required for role, with willingness to undertake further training/ education to achieve agreed level of competence.
- Acts to support and enable teamwork.
- Cheerful outlook towards supporting organisational / service changes, learning and continuous quality improvement
