Pay: £500-£550 per week
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm (term time only)

Long-term, Temp to Perm Long Term Futures is recruiting an ASD Teaching Assistant for a large specialist SEN school near Selly Oak, Birmingham. This is a consistent, full-time role supporting children and young people aged 2-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Speech & Language needs, and complex needs, including personal care. The role offers long-term stability with potential for a permanent placement.
Key Responsibilities:
1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASD, PMLD, SLCN and complex needs
Support personal care needs in line with safeguarding and dignity procedures
Use autism-specific and sensory approaches (TEACCH, low-arousal, structured routines)
Support communication using PECS, Makaton, AAC and visual supports
Implement Positive Behaviour Support and de-escalation strategies
Support EHCP targets and personalised learning
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and SEN professionals
Requirements:
Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent)
Experience supporting pupils with ASD, PMLD and complex learning needs
Confidence supporting personal care, medical and physical needs
Knowledge of sensory processing, communication strategies and regulation techniques
Strong understanding of safeguarding, moving and handling, and child protection practice
Calm, patient, resilient and compassionate approach
