Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic, innovative and friendly team dedicated to improving our ward based clinical pharmacy services. You will work with the medicines management team to implement, deliver and continually improve the technical and clinical support to wards. You are expected to be enthusiastic, motivated, patient‑orientated and committed to patient safety.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake medicines reconciliation and take drug histories to ensure patients receive the correct medications from the start of their hospital stay.
  • Promote one‑stop dispensing and oversee the usage of Patients’ Own medication.
  • Assist wards to ensure that TTOs are dispensed prior to discharge and communicate effectively with other healthcare colleagues when appropriate.
  • Serve as an Accredited Checking Technician (ACPT), with regular dispensing and checking slots in the dispensary.
  • Support the Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Management and other pharmacy team members in the management of medicines on the wards, audits and financial savings projects.
  • Participate in late duty and weekend rotas.
Qualifications
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council Pharmacy Technician.
  • Accredited Checking Technician (ACPT).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Friendly, approachable, adaptable, flexible, willing to learn new skills and committed to continuous professional development.
