Senior Expense Planning Analyst – 6 Month FTC
Division: Finance – Financial Performance
Reports To: Expense Planning Lead
Key Relationships: Executive Management, Finance Leadership Team, Platform Management Committees, Finance (incl. Financial Performance team), Chief Underwriting Office, Underwriting Teams, Group Actuarial and Strategic Finance, Support Functions, and other Business Users.
Job SummarySenior Expense Planning Analyst role to manage how company decisions are reflected in the expense base for current and future horizon, working closely with stakeholders, optimise expense base and processes around planned expense ratio.

- Lead and develop the team, providing best‑in‑class service, ensuring all employees have necessary knowledge and skills.
- Act as the senior subject matter expert for expense planning methods, modelling principles, and planning governance.
- Represent the Expense Planning workstream in forums as required.
- Build strong relationships with executives and business unit leaders to understand decisions/initiatives and translate into expense plans.
- Enable rapid interpretation / updates and support via a continuous feedback loop with stakeholders.
- Effectively communicate to stakeholders using visuals and story‑telling techniques.
- Provide continuous coaching to stakeholders on how Expense Accounting & Financial Performance analyses produce insights.
- Challenge stakeholders’ assumptions to ensure they are robust, commercially sound and reduce bias.
- Monitor leading indicators to identify operational performance gaps, drive action or provide alternative approaches.
- Lead development & implementation of a comprehensive expense planning process aligned with company objectives.
- Lead the SBF expense preparation process as part of Lloyd’s annual submission.
- Collaborate with Group Planning Team on 5‑year MTP model forecast expenses.
- Drive connected planning agenda, integrate planning across activities for efficiencies.
- Contribute expert expense insight and commentary across key reporting.
- Lead delivery of expense planning requirements ensuring fit‑for‑purpose, high‑quality reporting.
- Identify and execute opportunities to enhance planning processes through controls framework.
- Ensure inclusion of strategic initiatives within expense plans and update documentation.
- Utilise new technology to enhance global offering and drive efficiency.
- Support build‑out of expense planning reporting and deliver self‑serve dashboards.
- Maintain and enforce reporting framework for consistency and governance.
- Lead development of planning tools to improve stakeholder engagement.
- Work with change team to ensure decision support tools provide actionable advice.
- Articulate value of decision support tool utilisation for stakeholders.
- Assist in defining success criteria and metrics for performance management tools.

Education And QualificationsEssential Criteria
- Experienced qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
- Experience of the financial services or insurance market, preferably Lloyd’s.
- Experience of Expense roles within complex insurance organisations.
- Coaching & leadership skills.
- Stakeholder management and relationship building.
