The Role

This role sits within the finance team and has a strong focus on transactional accounting, reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records within a fast‑paced financial services environment.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of core finance processes, supporting high‑volume transactions, cash movements and month‑end activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their finance career within a growing fintech business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Posting bank transactions and completing daily bank reconciliations Post daily bank activity, including customer receipts and intercompany payments, and perform regular bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances promptly.
  • Processing intercompany bank payments Setting up intercompany payments to maintain an appropriate flow of funds from customer receipts to operational accounts. Prepare reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring supporting documentation is maintained and reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner.
  • Supporting loan payout process Communicating with operational teams to track the loan payout queue and helping to ensure customers receive funds as quickly as possible once approved. Upload signed loan agreements and other supporting documents into the loan management system for future reference.
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet accounts relating to Own Book lending product, ensuring supporting documentation is maintained and reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner.
  • Reconciliation of systems Match financial records between our primary finance system and our loan management system, highlighting any issues and investigating where possible.
  • Assisting with month‑end processes Support the month‑end close by preparing journals and assisting with reporting deadlines to ensure accurate period‑end reporting.
  • Supporting customer administration in the loan management system Set up new customers and create new loan documents to assist during periods of high demand. Process updated contact details and maintain customer activity notes as appropriate.
  • Managing the accounts payable and receivable ledgers Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring transactions are recorded correctly and queries are resolved promptly.
  • Raising sales invoices and supporting credit control activities Generate accurate customer invoices in line with agreed terms and support credit control by monitoring aged debt, issuing statements, and assisting with customer query resolution.
  • Supporting VAT return preparation Assist in preparing VAT return data, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and comply with VAT regulations.
  • Providing ad‑hoc support to the wider finance team Support audits, reporting requests and ongoing process improvements as the business continues to grow.
About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working in a detail‑focused role and takes ownership of transactional finance processes.

  • Previous experience in a Finance Assistant / Accounts Assistant role
  • Strong experience across accounts payable, receivable and bank reconciliations
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Confident Excel user
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Proactive, reliable and process‑driven mindset
  • Studying towards an AAT qualification or holding an AAT qualification (or equivalent experience)
