Job Overview

You’re working in an accountancy practice and enjoy handling a varied client portfolio. But maybe the environment you’re in isn’t working for you. And what your life needs right now is a job where you are given the autonomy to deliver great work in a supportive, competent and good‑humoured team, managing your own hours. You might be studying towards a recognised accountancy qualification.

But it doesn't matter if you're not, because you'll be hired on your practical capabilities and skills.

Preparing statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, you'll complete

VAT submissions, corporation tax computations and prepare annual accounts. Your great written and verbal communication skills mean you're able to manage client expectations, be confident in chasing for information and handle queries, all towards delivering compliant work to the necessary timescales.

You’ll work for a two-partner firm with a great local reputation and offering employment stability with a competent, long‑standing team of about 25 people. And you’ll be encouraged to work flexibly, covering a 37.5‑hour week. This is not a firm where you’ll need to open up your laptop after hours, except in very exceptional circumstances. Early bird? There will be like‑minded people in the office at 7.30 am.

But if you like to arrive at 10 am and finish at 6 pm?. But you decide what works best for you as long as you cover the core hours between 10 am and 4 pm. Once you’ve had a few weeks of settling in and work handover, you’ll also enjoy hybrid-working (a couple of days a week from home). Most of the people here enjoy working in the office rather than from home, but it’s a choice.

On‑site parking is not a problem, and if you’re reliant on public transport, the firm is outside the city centre with very easy bus access. Holiday is 31 days per annum, and you'll keep three days aside for Christmas closure. And it’s possible to buy and sell days.

And you’ll get auto enrolled into the pension scheme.
